Open Doors 2021

Dogwood Animal Hospital is pleased to announce that we plan to open our doors to the public for the first time in a year, starting on April 12, 2021. We are all looking forward to being able to see your faces soon. Below is a list of guidelines that we have put in place to help keep everyone safe and comfortable. All our precautions have been derived from the advisement of the CDC or local health authorities. Based on these recommendations, the number of clients allowed into the office will be limited. We ask that there be only one person per pet in the office. Please do not bring any unnecessary persons to your appointment with you. All drop off and surgical appointments will continue to be handled by curbside service rather than in person to help control that number.

The success of and continued operation with open doors is dependent on your cooperation, please take the time to understand why we have taken these measures. Our number one priority is the health and safety of our clients, patients, and employees.

Please be advised that while many of our staff have chosen to be vaccinated, we have not mandated vaccination for our employees or clients wishing the enter our office. In addition, we are not at liberty to disclose information relating to who has or has not been vaccinated. In person care can put all parties at greater risk for exposure. Dogwood Animal Hospital cannot be held liable for any exposure that may occur while you are visiting our office. If you are not comfortable coming into our office yet, curbside service is still available. When you schedule your appointment, please advise the client service representative of your preference so that we can schedule appropriately.

If you are choosing to come into the office, the client screening form is required to be submitted prior to your appointment. The link to this form is also below for your convenience. If you are opting for curbside service, please fill out the curbside service questionnaire.

If you have any questions regarding our guidelines or available services please contact our hospital manager, Jessi Santos, at the office phone number or email.

General Guidelines:

  • Maintain social distancing of 6 ft while in the office.
  • Use the hand sanitizer stations at the front entrance of the office or any of the hand washing sinks in the general areas.
  • Do not shake hands, touch, or hug other people while in the office.
  • Do not congregate in any area of the office with other clients or staff.
  • Wear a cloth face covering, over mouth and nose, at all times while in the hospital.

If at any time you choose to not follow these guidelines you may be asked to leave the office and wait in your vehicle.

August 3, 2020

To our valued clients and patients,

To better serve you, we will be adjusting our operating hours. Dogwood Animal Hospital will be closing on Saturdays however, we will be extending our operating hours Monday through Friday to 6 pm. Our new hours will start on August 29th. Please consider these new hours when you schedule your boarding and when you plan to come in for pick ups. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and we welcome your feedback.

More recently, some of our clients have questioned why we have not resumed normal operation. The health and safety of our clients, staff, and of course our furry patients is our top priority. We are currently operating with limited supply of personal protective equipment and disinfectants that are effective against COVID-19, therefore we do not have ample supply to disinfect appropriately for the amount of exposure opening our doors to the public would result in. However, we would like to assure you that we are disinfecting between each patient that we see so that their exposure and our staff exposure is limited. In addition, we do change out our PPE between patients being seen. The PPE that is reusable is washed and disinfected every day and surfaces our disinfected multiple times a day.

The current state regulations are also still advising keeping a safe 6 feet of distance between people. In our line of work and within our office building we are unable to do this with our clients present. As positive cases continue to rise and given the shortage of PPE we cannot provide a safe work environment if we allow clients into the building.

This process makes treating your pets difficult for you as well as our doctors and staff and we appreciate your patience. Unfortunately, we do not have a set timeline for resuming normal operations. As we receive information from state leaders, we will re-evaluate our protocols and adjust them as the situation changes. As always, we will keep all of you posted with changes as they occur.

If you have or plan to schedule an appointment with our office, please visit our website. You can find more information and electronic documents that will help process your appointment.

We at Dogwood Animal Hospital thank you for continuing to entrust us with your pets’ care. As your “Other Family Doctor” we know how important it is to choose the right care for your pets. We are all doing our best to adapt to the ever-changing regulations being set forth by our state.

1. We are operating under normal business hours. M-F 8 am - 5:30 pm, Sat 8:30 am- 12 noon, and Sunday we are closed.

2. We are offering curbside service only. Please visit our website for details on this process.

3. Routine services like grooming, nail trims, and boarding have been suspended.

5. Allow 24 hours for all medication refills and prescription diet requests.

6. Call us when you are in our parking lot. Please note the space that you are parked in. We appreciate you letting us know you are on the way, but we cannot check you in until you arrive.

7. We are only accepting credit card payments over the phone at this time. Cash and check transactions would place an unnecessary risk to our employees.

8. If you have questions please contact us.

Our employees are still operating based on the CDC's recommendations for disinfecting. We are using available personal protective equipment sparingly throughout the day. We continue to disinfect surfaces and work areas throughout the day with approved CDC chemicals effective against COVID-19. In our line of work, social distancing is complicated, but we are following guidelines as much as possible within our facility.

We are here for you throughout this process and will remain open as long as we are permitted to do so. Please continue to be patient with us. The need for veterinary care is more than anticipated and we are doing our very best to keep up with the increasing need for our services. You may experience longer than normal wait times and have trouble getting through on our phone lines. If we all work together and be patient, we will get your beloved pets seen as quickly as possible.  Thank you for continuing to choose us for the care of your pets.

Warm Regards,

Jessi Santos, Practice Manager

March 27, 2020

To Our Valued Clients

On Friday March 27, 2020 Governor Cooper issued a statewide stay-at-home order for North Carolina residents to take effect on Monday March 30th at 5 pm EST. While we are considered an essential business and we will remain open we must limit the number of staff permitted in the hospital at any given time. We will continue curbside service only. This is going to limit the number of patients we can see daily even more. We will discontinue all routine, non-essential services as of Tuesday such as baths, nail trims, and grooming. This is being done to allow for sick patients to be seen and treated in a timely manner. If you already have an appointment scheduled, we will do our best to accommodate you. If our schedule requires us to change your appointment you will be notified by phone as soon as possible. If you would like to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please notify us as soon as possible so that we can adjust our schedule accordingly.

We will only be accepting debit or credit card payments starting on Tuesday. Cash or check transactions will be prohibited because they require so much contact with personal items.

As always, it is our mission to provide the best care possible for your furry family members. We are taking all necessary precautions during this uncertain time to keep our employees and you safe. Please be patient with us as we adjust. We will keep you up to date with all new policy changes as soon as they become available.

The doctors and staff at Dogwood Animal Hospital hope that you all stay safe and healthy.

Warm Regards,

Jessi Santos, Practice Manager

Re: Update to current protocols and recommendations

As of today, March 19, 2020 Dogwood Animal Hospital is still working under regular business hours and operations. We are communicating closely with all of our distributors. While they have limited in person contact, they are still in full delivery operation with no shortages in supplies. As you know, the conditions and precautions being taken are rapidly changing.
